FAQs

What is dry lining?

Dry lining is an effective way to clad internal walls and ceilings in preparation for painting or wallpapering. It involves attaching plasterboard to the surface, creating a smooth finish.

What is the difference between plastering and dry lining?

Plastering is a similar yet slower process and uses a wet substance, plaster, to cover the wall. Due to this it can take much longer to plaster a wall or ceiling than to use plasterboard, plus you have to wait for it to dry before the wall can be painted or covered.

Why is dry lining used?

Dry lining is a much faster process than traditional plastering yet achieves a similar result: a wall or surface ready to paint or cover. In addition, plasterboard used in dry lining can create insulation space, provide sandboarding, or hide wires and pipes.

What are the benefits of dry lining?

  • Dry lining is typically faster and easier to install than wet plaster.
  • Insulation can be applied to the back of the plasterboard to help retain heat.
  • Buildings become more flexible as dry lined walls are easier to change.
